NLI Warrior Soul Series Recap

Both Coach Mike and myself just completed the Warrior Soul Series put on by Next Level Invitation/ Legendary Competitor.

The first event was held back in early August, the second event in October, and the series Final this past weekend.

First off I want  to thank everyone who went out and supported us throughout the series. I don't think I could have done as good as I did without NoX Support both at the box training and at the competitions.

Also shout out to The NLI Series! The NLI is the best thing that could have happened to the CrossFit Community in the SoCal Region. I competed last year for my first CrossFit competition ever in the Intermediate Division and it was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I have always been an athlete since I was 8 years old when I started Track and Field but CrossFit has been a much bigger challenge for me.

As a Track and Field Athlete I was able to rely on talent alone for most of my career and still do well.

I had that same expectation going into my first CrossFit competiton Aug 2011; Next Level Invitational Series(NLI). I ended up getting 70th place (out of 74) in the intermediate division.

I left that competition feeling like I never wanted to compete in CrossFit Again. The following Monday I went to the Box feeling like I never wanted to compete again. However once I arrived at the box I knew I could do better. I knew I could keep up with the top dogs in the area. I knew I was capable of more than what I did the past weekend at competition. I knew I could do 10 pullups at a time (which I couldnt do at my first comp). I knew I could be a a lot better than I was. At the same time I had doubt and fear of not being able to do do what I wanted to do, as I only had 2 months before the next competition in the series.

I went to work 5+ days a week/ multiple training session a day some days.

I accepted the challenge that I gave myself, to be able to handle any physical task.

If I never signed up for that first NLI event, I would not be where I am at today. I would not have the same mindset that I have now whenever I face a challenge both in Life and athletically.

The Next Level Invitational has lived up to its name and pushed me to my Next Level each and every time.

Also, wanted to Thank Coach Mike (Brother) for convincing me to sign up for that first competition. I was not sure if I wanted to compete but singed up anyway because of his encouragement. Also want to thank him for starting NoX Training, which had a big impact on my life this past year. Going to the Box Leaves me with confidence that I can apply to every day life situation.  I know all of the NoX Fam could say the same.
